Some playing cards based on the Soulquarian music collective for my Digital Drawing class.
I was trying to use a similar style to this: [link] that I drew quite a while ago. It's not exactly the same, but yeah.
Erykah Badu looks a little weird, but I like ?uestlove and J Dilla.
I'm liking this a lot. I agree with you about Erykah, and truth be told I didn't know who you drew until you mentioned her. You've got the shape of her face right, but I think the eyebrows and lips you put on her are not hers.
That and the only images of her I have in my head is with either a huge honkin' afro or some sort of wild headpiece/hat.
Yeah, I really wanted to use her afro... But I didn't want it to compete with ?uestlove's. And Erykah's hair changed with every image I saw on Google. It was a dilemma! I might redo her. She looks more like Pocahontas...
Erykah's really hard to draw (in my opinion). It's extremely difficult to get her likeness just right. I've tried a few times myself. This is really cool though.
A brand new monthly article which showcases some of deviantART's finest equine artists, as well as recognizing the lesser-known but equally talented ones. Interviews, helpful tutorials and features can all be found here too! I hope you enjoy it.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
